Art Exhibit and Label Competition
Call for Entries Superior Estates Winery Art Exhibit and Label Competition Superior Estates Winery, a premier Nebraska vineyard and winery, seeks entries for its first annual art exhibit and label competition. The exhibit will hang at the winery from May 15 through June 30. This coincides with Superior’s best-attended community event, the Lady Vestey Victorian Festival, which occurs over the Memorial Day weekend. In addition to exhibiting the art pieces, we will host a juried competition to select one piece, which will become the first label in our newly-established Artist Series. Superior Estates Winery recognizes and supports the talented artists of our state and is committed to selecting a new art piece each year for our annual Artist Series. Guidelines 1. Art entries must be two dimensional, framed, and suitable for wall display. 2. Art entries must be paintings, drawings, sketches, or any other two-dimensional medium. No three-dimensional art will be accepted. 3. Art entries may represent the Victorian era, a wine theme, or a Nebraska ideal. The theme for this year’s Lady Vestey Victorian Festival is “All Aboard”, which celebrates the important role the railroads have played in Superior’s history and development. These are only suggestions and in no way are meant to limit the artist’s creativity. 4. Art entries must be received at the winery no later than Saturday, May 10, 2008 in order to be arranged for the exhibit. The winery is open Wednesday through Sunday, 1:00-5:00. 5. Each art entry must be accompanied by a 3 X 5” card including the following information: Artist’s name, address, phone number, email, website, title of work, sale price. Since this is a juried exhibit, each art piece will receive a number and will be judged by number and title only. If patrons are interested in purchasing a piece, they will be given the artist’s name and contact information only after the juried competition is completed and the winner is named. Superior Estates Winery will handle all sales and requests a 10% commission from the artist. 6. All unsold art entries must be removed from the winery no later than June 30, 2008, unless other arrangements are made. 7. Superior Estates Winery assumes no responsibility for damage of any kind to any piece of art in the exhibit. The piece that is selected to appear on the Artist Series label will hang in the winery until the next year’s competition. The creator of the winning piece will not receive any monetary compensation from the winery, but will receive an honorarium in the form of one case (12 bottles) of wine which displays the winning art piece on its label. 8. Art entries will be judged by a panel of respected artists and representatives of Superior Estates Winery. Judging will occur between May 11 and May 14. All judges’ decisions are final and may not be appealed for any reason. All questions about this exhibit and competition should be directed to: Dr. Ken Hoppmann, Director of Operations Superior Estates Winery 200 W. 15th St. Superior, NE 68978 402-879-3001 ken@SuperiorEstatesWinery.com www.SuperiorEstatesWinery.com
